Cuddy was relieved to hear weekend visits were a possibility. Given how difficult it had been for House to even accept there was going to be a baby, she really wanted him to have time to bond with it. And for the baby to bond with him. Even if she brought the baby to the hospital for regular visits, she wasn't sure how well that would go. This place wasn't the most family friendly environment. It was a hospital. It was designed and organized for patient care, not 'daddy and me' time. Knowing he could spend time at home with them made her feel better about House being able to build a relationship with Junior.
"That's...that's great." Cuddy lit up with a big smile when Megan said it was a real possibility he'd be home before the baby was born. She'd been afraid to hope for that. She'd been leery of even talking about it because she didn't want to get her hopes up only be crushed. Psychotherapy wasn't an exact science. What worked for one patient didn't work for another. She knew it might take time to find the right combination of medications and therapy that would work for House.
"I know that's not a guarantee," she said Megan. Her hands were fluttering around in barely constrained excitement. If she weren't such a whale she might've gotten up and done a little dance. Stupid, because here she was getting her hopes up and it really wasn't a guarantee. It was something hopeful, though.
She looked over at House. "It'll be so good if you can be home by then. I'll understand if you can't but...it would be really, really nice."
